North & West Vancouver

Who Are We

Cycling Without Age is a global movement started in 2012 in Denmark with the aim of improving the lives of the elderly and helping them to break free from social isolation. Cycling Without Age North Shore was established in 2019 as a program of Silver Harbour Seniors’ Activity Centre.

What We Do

At Cycling Without Age North Shore, our mission is to promote well-being by sharing the beauty of nature and the joy of new friendships. We offer enriching free rides through scenic forest trails, bringing together people with mobility challenges, and those who seek community connection regardless of age or ability. We have grown our ridership from 625 passengers in 2024 to 1071 in 2025 operating five electric-assisted two-seater and two wheelchair-carrying trishaws which travelled 3,237 km. We were fortunate to be able to add two trishaws to our fleet thanks to the generosity of many donors. The wheelchair carrying trishaws have been frequently requested by recreation managers at care residences. We operate from four bases at Mahon Park, Lynn Valley Centre, near Phibbs Exchange and West Vancouver at Park Royal.

Most of our free rides are organized through 20 seniors’ residences and care organizations we partner with, collaborating with recreational therapists at these facilities. Cycling Without Age North Shore continues to reach out to individuals living in their own homes to provide them access to free rides on our trishaws. In 2026, we plan once again to host public rides at Seymour Demonstration Forest (Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve), Bridgman Park (Lynn Creek). and Ambleside Park. We were fortunate to have the free use of an accessible bus, courtesy of the West Vancouver Seniors’ Centre. This allowed us to transport residents from the long-term care facilities to these venues. We intend to expand this service in 2026.

How You Can Help

Be a Volunteer

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Cycling Without Age North Shore

We are a volunteer-powered organization dedicated to giving seniors in North & West Vancouver the right to feel the wind in their hair again, with the simple act of a free bike ride. There are many ways you can help us do this. If you are interested in volunteering, please email us and we will be in touch!

Be a Cheerleader!

Help us spread the word! We are always looking for more passengers, so please let people in your community who have senior parents and grandparents, or someone with mobility challenges know that we would love to arrange a free ride for them!

Be A Donor

With the expansion of our chapter we need additional funding to keep our operation sustainable. With our increased fleet of trishaws, maintenance needs have increased and we will be contracting with a mobile bicycle repair firm to keep our machines safe and in working order. The organization of free public rides at the Seymour Demonstration Forest, Bridgman Park and Ambleside Park will require us to employ students to liaise with all parties to allow us to deliver these additional and special rides.

Please consider donating to help us meet our needs. All donations over $25 are eligible for tax receipts through Silver Harbour Seniors’ Activity Centre.
